For job title:
Volunteer in the Quality of Life team.
Commitment:
4 hours per week, with a commitment to ensure at least 100 hours.
Main purpose and function:
Providing community support for cancer patients and their families in accordance with the Quality of Life Team’s vision, mission, and goals.
Standards:
Ability to adapt and work within a team
Effective communication skills
Willingness to learn and adhere to instructions
Ability to work without supervision
Roles and responsibilities:
Volunteers are expected to report to the volunteer team leader
Wearing the Hamad Medical Corporation identification badge throughout their presence in the hospital buildings
Volunteers are expected to adhere to Hamad Medical Corporation rules and regulations including:
Infection prevention practices followed at Hamad Medical Corporation
Hamad Medical Corporation Policy No. CL7232 “Cleaning and Sterilization of Reused Toys and Play Equipment”
Hamad Medical Corporation Policy No. OP4306 “Code of Conduct”
Hamad Medical Corporation Policy No. CL7246 “Infection Prevention Practices”
Hamad Medical Corporation Policy No. 1015 “Safety Management Plan”
Volunteers will also be required to meet the following conditions:
To enjoy good health and ensure their safety and the safety of others
To maintain the confidentiality of the affairs of patients, their families, and those working on the quality of life team and the hospital
To ensure the safety of patients and families participating in any volunteer activity
To report urgent care requirements, incidents or any concerns related to the patient or his family to the Quality of Life Team
To submit reports on each of the activities performed for the patient and his family
Accept some additional administrative tasks whenever needed
Required competencies:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Take a supportive approach while working closely with patients, their families, the Quality of Life team and hospital staff
Proficiency in a second language is desirable
