Volunteering with Al Hilal
To serve humanity
The Crescent seeks to achieve its mission to serve humanity and achieve sustainable development by supporting volunteer work. This entails:

  • Increase interest in volunteering and mobilize volunteers by providing an environment concerned with training them, developing their skills, and improving the work they perform.
  • Increasing the proportion of young people among volunteers, because of their ability to achieve, change, and influence their peers, especially through social media and dialogue forums.

  • Forming teams of volunteers that contribute to highlighting the Crescent’s social role at the local level.
  • Developing volunteers affiliated with the Crescent in quantity and quality.
  • Activating school visits and working to form a new generation of volunteers.
  • Participation in various local and international events.
  • Activating partnerships with institutions related to the volunteer system, such as the Qatar Center for Volunteer Work and the Reach Out to Asia Foundation (ROTA).
  • Adopting a self-service vision at the volunteer management level.
  • Establishing the first database of young volunteers in the region and then expanding its scope at the regional and international levels.
  • Supporting the partnership with the Arab Union for Voluntary Work to adopt the youth network, establish its headquarters in Qatar, and allocate a budget for it from the Union.

    Through social development programs, the Crescent seeks to raise the standard of living of simple groups in society so that they are able to face the burdens of life and enjoy security of living, through a large number of diverse programmes, including, for example:
  • Economic and social empowerment programs to provide financial and in-kind assistance to vulnerable groups to cover living expenses.
  • Professional empowerment programs to support families, especially women, professionally through specialized professional and academic courses.
  • Academic empowerment programs to help students who are unable to complete their educational journey by partially or completely paying their tuition fees.
  • Health empowerment programs through the Patient Assistance Fund to cover some or all of the costs of treatment, operations, and medications for incapable patients.
  • Emergency aid programs to provide urgent assistance to those in need who are exposed to some emergency situations such as fire, etc.
  • Psychosocial support programs to help vulnerable groups cope with their difficult circumstances and try to overcome them.
  • An supply program to rehabilitate, train, and care for inmates of penal institutions in order to help them integrate properly into society again after serving their sentence.
  • A kidney transplant project in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation for cases of serious kidney failure.
  • Annual cultural and social programs, including “Collect and Rise,” “Outstanding Students,” “This is My Wish,” and “Iftar of Affection.”
  • Seasonal aid, including Ramadan in-kind aid, Zakat al-Fitr, Eid clothing, school vouchers, food vouchers, food aid, and miscellaneous aid.

    The Crescent provides lectures, training courses and workshops to members of society and its institutions in order to provide them with the knowledge and skills required to deal with various types of emergencies and crises, raise their awareness and educate them regarding community health and international humanitarian law, spread the culture of volunteer work, attract and qualify volunteers, and increase the efficiency of medical personnel.
