- Access Control: Controlling access points to the property or facility is a primary responsibility. This involves checking credentials, verifying identification, and ensuring only authorized individuals enter the premises.

- Emergency Response: In the event of emergencies, such as fires, medical incidents, or security breaches, security guards take immediate action. This includes alerting emergency services, guiding evacuations, and providing assistance as needed.
- Reporting and Documentation: Security guards maintain detailed records of their observations, incidents, and actions taken during their shifts. Accurate reporting is essential for maintaining security protocols and documenting any incidents for future reference.
- Customer Service: Many security guards interact with visitors, employees, and customers on a daily basis. They may provide directions, answer questions, or offer assistance to enhance customer service and maintain a positive environment.
- Enforcement of Rules and Regulations: Security guards enforce property rules, regulations, and safety guidelines. This may include enforcing parking regulations, escorting unauthorized individuals off the premises, or addressing disruptive behavior.
- Conflict Resolution: Security guards are trained to handle conflicts and disturbances calmly and professionally. They may intervene in disputes, de-escalate tensions, and ensure a safe resolution of issues as they arise.
- Collaboration with Law Enforcement: Security guards cooperate with law enforcement agencies when necessary, providing assistance during investigations or incidents that require police intervention.
- Continuous Training and Development: To maintain effectiveness and professionalism, security guards often participate in ongoing training programs. This includes training on security procedures, emergency response protocols, and updates on relevant laws and regulations.
