About Shaflah
In order to protect the rights of persons with disabilities in the State of Qatar, the Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities was established in 1999, with the aim of providing exemplary services to persons with intellectual disabilities and autism who are under the age of 21, in the field of special education and rehabilitation, as well as community awareness of their issues and rights in order to obtain a more independent life and maximize their integration into society. The center has been operating since 2013 under the umbrella of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work.
Over the past two decades, we have worked and persevered in providing specialized and integrated services to rehabilitate and develop the capabilities and skills of our sons and daughters, members of Shafallah, with disabilities and autism.
The Shafallah Center is a distinguished platform and a house of expertise in the field of enhancing the capabilities of persons with disabilities and integrating them into society, as Shafallah has been keen to keep pace with modern technology and use modern technology to enhance the capabilities of Shafallah members, and apply the best international practices to suit our sons and daughters in Qatari society.
The name Al Shafallah came from the hope that the center plants in the souls of its members and beneficiaries of its services. It is basically a reference to the name of the wild Shafallah plant that grows in the dry desert, as this plant is a symbol of life in the midst of the dry desert in Qatar. As previously mentioned, the establishment of the Shafallah Center was based on the belief in the necessity of enhancing the capabilities of people with disabilities and integrating them into society through the use of modern technology, and applying the best international practices in a manner that suits Qatari society, and with steady steps to develop the capabilities of individuals to face challenges, leading to success, and enabling our children to contribute to the sustainable development of Qatari society.
