Speech & Language swallowing Specialist

Job Description

Ensures through his/her actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the Care National Hospital.

Evaluates plans and performs Speech and hearing therapy treatments.

Writes evaluation assessment and maintain adequate treatment records and progress notes for review by medical staffs.

Carries own patient case load and responsible for all duties this entails.

Participates in departmental meeting, case conference and clinical in-service.

Prepares patients for discharge from the hospital by teaching those precautions, basic procedures and giving home instructions if necessary.

Communicates all pertinent changes in patients’ condition to the Physicians and medical staff.

Promptly completes daily documentation of treatment.

Ensures good maintenance in the treatment area. Reports to Department Head any damage and out of order equipment.

Acts as an advisor in clinical problems discusses diagnosis and treatment plans with medical team.

Assists the attending Physician in determining appropriate speech therapy treatment; reviews and evaluates patient’s records; schedules, performs and evaluates patient tests; recommends the most appropriate treatment for specific disabilities; submits a written treatment program to the Physician for concurrence.

Maintains complete records of the patients’ original diagnosis, evaluation and treatment plan; records and evaluates patients’ response and discusses progress with the Physician/Surgeon; recommends changes; advises when the patient is ready for discharge from the therapy room.

Demonstrates proper treatment procedures to ward personnel; instructs patients and families in procedures to be continued at home. As requested, plans and conducts lectures and training programs for medical staff, students and community groups; plans and participates in the speech and Hearing therapy research programs.

Keeps abreast of new techniques or equipments and recommends or implements them as applicable.

Complies with hospital dress code.

Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee’s knowledge, skills and abilities.

Qualifications:

Education:

BS degree in Speech and langauge Therapy from an accredited institution, plus the required clinical internship for professional registration.

Holder of Professional license to practice.

Passed Saudi Council Registration exam.

Current CPR certification.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience similar to the job in an acute care hospital facility.  

Skills:

Fluency in verbal and written English. Preferable also in Arabic

Knowledgeable of computer skills.

Ability to exhibits professionalism and excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Must be willing and able to work with multi-cultural and physical handicapped.

Good in customer care and team work.

  8. Maintenance and Safety Awareness: Attention to detail in maintaining treatment areas and reporting equipment issues to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  9. Advisory Skills: Ability to collaborate with physicians in determining diagnosis and treatment plans, offering expert advice based on patient evaluations.
  10. Instruction and Training: Skills to demonstrate treatment procedures to staff and conduct training programs or lectures for medical professionals and community groups.
  11. Research and Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying updated with new techniques and equipment in speech and swallowing therapy, incorporating them as appropriate.
  12. Professionalism: Adherence to hospital protocols, including dress code and other professional standards, while carrying out duties.

Echo Technician

Job Description

Ensures through his actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the RCH.

Performs M-Mode and 2-dimensional echocardiograms in both adults, children and children.  A thorough knowledge of normal cardiac anatomy and the anatomy of acquired or congenital diseases of the heart is required.

Assists Cardiologist in performing phonocardiography and Trans esophageal echocardiographic procedures.

Performs an assessment on patients of various conditions and ages, considering the physical and physiological needs of every patient

Processes and maintains records of all results. Performs minor repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment as needed. 

Maintains departmental inventory of necessary materials and supplies.

Performs all written documentation, as required by departmental standards, in a timely fashion and submits the completed report.

Organize the rota for coverage.

Assists in the orientation of new employees as assigned by supervisors.

Participates in continuing education.

Responsible to educate patients /families as per their needs and to implement their whole role regarding patient / family education process as mention in patient & family education policy and procedure (NSP-GEN-014) including documentation in patient medical record.

They are knowledgeable about their essential role in patient and family education.

Performs additional duties as directed or assigned by Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Performing Echocardiograms: Conducting transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE), and stress echocardiograms to assess heart function.
  2. Patient Preparation: Preparing patients for echocardiograms by explaining the procedure, answering questions, and ensuring they are comfortable.
  3. Operating Equipment: Using ultrasound machines to capture high-quality images of the heart, adjusting settings as necessary for optimal results.

Qualifications:

Education:

A minimum of:

Bachelor/Associate of degree or college diploma in healthcare related field from an accredited institution.

Certification in Echo Technician is preferred.

Valid license of specialty from Saudi Council.

Valid Basic Life support certificate.

Experience:

Required

Post qualification experience of two years.  Valid license to perform Echocardiogram from Saudi Council.
